Our Mission
Health, Education & Research (HER) works to provide the needed expertise to ensure high quality and safe formulations in the the natural products industry. Our team is dedicated to helping clients extract, formulate, develop, and generate active products within the botanical medicine landscape. We have assisted multiple companies to produce over 100 SKUs (stock keeping units) of great selling products.
HER has also developed curriculum, courses, and single lectures for schools of higher education and natural products companies wanting to increase awareness within the natural health industry.

Consulting
Members of HER have served as consultants to the natural products industry in various capacities since 1989. The HER advisory team has vast experience in clinical phytotherapy, analytical chemistry, quality control and the creation of CAM educational programs. This is combined with many years of laboratory and clinical research and an all encompassing understanding of botanical medicine. Research
Dr. Spelman, the Founder of HER, has considerable experience in botanical, nutraceutical, and cannabinoid research. He has published 29 peer reviewed & industry publications and six book chapters on medicinal plants. He has focused on molecular techniques to elucidate the pharmacology of phytochemicals on human physiology. His research history includes investigating plants for brain and ovarian cancer, clinical investigations, immunological studies, cannabinoid signaling and chemical analysis. He is currently the host of The Spelman Report, a monthly audio science journal providing insights into the latest research on botanical medicine & cannabis. University Affiliations
Dr. Spelman is a cofounder of the first accredited master’s degree in Clinical Herbal Medicine at Maryland University of Integrative Health and was the Clinical Chair for four years. He has served as adjunct professor at three of the four naturopathic medical schools in the U.S. He has developed curriculum, courses and lectured at several other universities and medical schools over his many years focusing on the pharmacology of botanical medicine.
