Kevin Spelman, PhD, MCPP

Dr. Spelman is a research scientist, clinician, educator, consultant, and an international expert in molecular biology and medicinal plant pharmacology. He has served the natural products industry in various capacities since 1989. He has worked with medicinal plants in the clinic, the laboratory (clinical trials and preclinical studies), and the field. He has provided continuing medical education in multiple countries for physicians in cannabinoid therapeutics and medicinal plants. He has lectured internationally and directed the chemical analysis of over 300 different botanicals. Over the last 30 years, he has coordinated new product development, formulated product lines, advised on quality control guidelines, and created educational curriculums for industry and universities. He is currently the host of The Spelman Report, a monthly audio science journal providing insights into the latest research on botanical medicine & cannabis. Betsy Miller, MSc., CNS, LDN

Lead researcher

Betsy Miller is a clinical herbalist in the Northern Virginia area who specializes in women's reproductive health, with a focus on fertility and pregnancy support. Betsy completed her Master’s Degree in herbal medicine at the Maryland University of Integrative Health. She currently teaches Herbal Pharmacy and Materia Medica courses in their herbal medicine program. Betsy has been a botanical researcher for nearly 10 years, with experience investigating both traditional and modern/evidence-based use of plants, formulation, and safety. She has worked with H.E.R. for nine years.

Jason Wilson, MS

Jason Wilson, MS is a science educator, natural products researcher, and laboratory quality management consultant that has specialized in studying the Cannabis plant and its chemical constituents for the past decade. He is the host of the Curious About Cannabis Podcast and also the author of the introductory textbook Curious About Cannabis. Jason serves as a scientific advisor to a variety of companies and universities across the United States. He regularly provides trainings, guest lectures, seminars, classes and workshops. Beyond that, Jason has a profound interest in understanding the biochemical workings of understudied native plants. His work engages citizen science projects and trains the general public on basic laboratory and research techniques to make research tools more readily available to all.
