Searching for Meaning in Questionable "Scientific" Herb-Drug Interaction Data: Clinical Relevant Case Studies (1 CME)
Dietary Supplements and Herbs in Treating Neurological/Brain Health. On-Line AARM's Annual Restorative Medicine Conference
Kevin Spelman, PhD
Dr. Spelman will explain the current methods for evaluating herb-drug interaction (HDI) data. He will assess case studies of specific botanicals as to the strength of data for documented HDIs, and contrast the relevance of herb-drug interaction (HDI) data from in vitro and preclinical in vivo data as compared to pharmacokinetic and HDI data from human clinical trials. From the existing data, attendees will be able to generate a useful and predictive algorithm based on in vitro and preclinical in vivo research to deduce the likelihood of clinically relevant interactions without proper human HDI data.
